September Bird Walk at Long Dock Park in Beacon

We had another great walk on Saturday at Long Dock Park in Beacon lead by Putnam Audubon Leaders Perry Pit, Brian Rubino, and Kyle Bardwell. Perry counted 30 people in total on the walk. It was nice to see a pattern of a few returning participants.  Weather was perfect, and we came upon some good birds with a lot of good views. Raptors were abundant and by the end of the walk we managed to see Bald eagle, Osprey, American Kestrel and Merlin. The Bald Eagle and Merlin were seen well by most of the group. Some other birds the group managed to get looks at were a Belted Kingfisher and an Indigo Bunting.  Looking forward to Glynwood next month.

Our friends, Heidi and Michael Bender, owners of Split Rock Books shared this on their Facebook page.

Some days just start out right! We went on a Putnam Highlands Audubon Society walk before work and saw a bald eagle. Then a customer came in and brought us this amazing handmade rendition of our Split Rock bird, complete with a Split Rock bandanna and with excellent taste in books! Our customers continue to blow us away and make us feel very loved. We’re so glad to be your bookstore. ❤️🦅 #indiebookstore #birders @ Cold Spring, New York Split Rock Books
