FAMILY BIRDING WALK AT LITTLE STONY POINT

Tuesday, October 7th 3:30-4:45pm

REGISTRATION REQUIRED. Click here.

The Butterfield Library is collaborating with Star Net and HHMI Tangled Bank Studios to help children learn about birds and protect them as they migrate.  Their program, FLIGHT PATH focuses on the science of birds and bird migration. This program is co-sponsored by The Putnam Highlands Audubon Society.

We will meet at the visitors center at Little Stony Point for a bird-viewing walk.  We will be joined by Pete Salmansohn who is a long-time environmental educator.  Pete has worked at both Haldane and Garrison schools as a guest educator and also spent 7 seasons at Constitution Marsh Audubon Center.  He is chairman of education for the Putnam Highlands Audubon Society and is also a local Garrison resident.

This hike is open to families with children. Participants should wear hiking boots and weather-appropriate clothing.  Bring your binoculars!  Meet at the park offices at 3011 9D.  The hike will be chaperoned by representatives of the Butterfield Library, Little Stony Point Citizens Association, and the Putnam Highlands Audubon Society. In the event of inclement weather, the hike will be rescheduled to Friday the 10th of October at the same place and time.  Registration required to participate.
